Generations Project

These are part of a fine art project that I'm working on right now. They are very simple portraits when viewed individually, but when you put four together, they become very interesting. You start to compare the eyes, the noses, the mouths, the chins, the hair, the forehead, everything. (Click on the images to make them bigger to really see the differences) I started this project because I noticed that people would look at a new born baby and say to the mom, "She has your eyes," or "He looks like your husband." Then I thought, it would be fun to show the genetic progression between generations.

I'll be working on this project for 2 and a half more weeks, and then I'll be putting them all up on a wall somewhere on BYU's campus. So if you know of anyone that has 4 or 5 generations of just men or just women, and you think they'd be interested in modeling for me, let me know quickly!

Spring and Summer Fashion at BYU

I had to include these last three photos because they show the fun we had shooting these photos!

These were taken for BYU's Daily Universe. They are going to be doing a story on Spring and Summer fashions. So if you were curious about what girls at BYU are wearing these days, here's a representation for you!

Carolyn

I work with Carolyn at the Daily Universe. She is super nice and stepped in and modeled for me last minute for this shoot.

Brianne in Studio

Brianne was a lot of fun to shoot. She carried around her snowboard all day so that we could take these shots, and I'm glad she did!

Emily - High Key

The first time I met Emily was when she walked into the studio for this photo shoot! For my portrait class, I needed a blonde model and a friend of mine in the newsroom suggested that I use her friend. So we checked her out on facebook, then I gave her a very awkward phone call, ("Um hi, I don't know you, but will you model for me" :) ) and she agreed! She was a great sport and was a natural at modeling.

This was also my first time working in the studio. I'm getting used to the lights and it opens up a new world of possibilities in photography, although I still prefer natural lighting.

This semester I am going to need lots of models!!! I'm looking for women of all ages, so if you, or someone you know is interested, let me know. I will make it worth the model's time, with a disc of the images we shoot! The model wouldn't need to be in provo as I have access to some portable lights, but near there would be nice!

Haili's Pregnancy

Think you've had a hard pregnancy? 4 months into her pregnancy, doctors found that Haili's intestines were twisted. For a non-pregnant person, they would have done surgery right away, but for someone who has a living person residing right next to those intestines, it was a little bit different story. They waited for a while, but ultimately had to operate. After days of being in a drug induced coma, and a lot of other things, Haili began to get better and the baby as well.

Haili is due next week on 1/11/11, and she's ready to have little Grace come out!

Can you believe that she was 8 months pregnant when this photo was taken and she is wearing regular jeans?!

Karen as Sheryl

I got an assignment in my photoshop class to make an album cover for Sheryl Crow. So when I was thinking what to do, I thought of my friend Karen, who I thought was a young version of Sheryl Crow. We got together for 45 minutes and this is what happened. She doesn't know how to play a guitar, but I'm convinced this woman can rock it!

Don't forget about the free photo give away - It ends tomorrow night!

The Shaw Family Head Shots - Ashley Lake, Montana

Yes, that is my ugly mug at the bottom. Thanks to Jen for taking it (and marrying it!)
