A few weeks ago on Veteran's Day, the city of Provo did a honorary service for Veterans in the Covey Center in downtown Provo. I wasn't expecting much from this, but the service was very good and touching.
The man playing the trumpet was in WWII. On his first night in France, he found that he was the only man there that didn't drink, and so he secluded himself and began to play his trumpet. The next morning his troop captured a German sniper who asked in broken english who had been playing the trumpet last night. This man said he was, and the German told him he had a clear shot of him the whole time he was playing, but that he couldn't bring himself to shoot him because he loved the song he was playing. The two enemies then shook hands. After telling this story, the old man played the same song that he had played that night.
